About Us

Speak Up is a digital platform committed to
empowering individuals to take civic action and create
positive change in their communities and societies.
Through user-friendly digital tools, the platform
facilitates open and inclusive discussions, enables
access to information, engages with others, and
promotes meaningful action towards achieving goals.

Why it matters

Empowering citizens to engage in decision-making
processes leads to a more inclusive, open, and
accountable society. Informed citizens bring diverse perspectives and innovative ideas that can drive social
change and contribute to development. Enhanced citizen participation can lead to better
representation and policy-making. The rapid growth of
digital technology and social media provides an
unprecedented opportunity to engage citizens in civic
action. Addressing the problem now can help shape a
more inclusive and equitable future for Africa

As the founder of Speak Up Afrika, my mission is to create a platform where African voices are heard, stories are shared, and solutions to our most pressing challenges are found. Together, we can inspire a new generation of leaders committed to transforming the continent

Our story

Rooted in the purpose of fostering and empowering
participation in Africa through digital media, “Speak Up”
aims to enhance outreach, raise awareness, and mobilize
people towards collective action using digital tools and
online channels. The goal is to inform, engage, and
empower individuals to drive positive change in their
communities and societies, promoting participation,
fostering connectivity, and empowering change.

The Challenge

In Africa, citizens face a significant challenge due to the lack of a comprehensive, accessible digital platform that enables them to connect, engage in governance, participate in civic action, and influence policy-making processes. This absence contributes to limited citizen engagement in governance, elections, social and community integration, and cohesion. Moreover, there is an insufficient number of platforms that facilitate connection, participation in decision-making, and trust-building through discourse. The resulting lack of citizen participation in governance, elections, and civic activities can cause underrepresentation and
marginalization, which in turn obstructs the development of informed, diverse, and innovative policymaking
